About Me

I am a driven and curious PhD student in the Brian Lamb School of Communication at Purdue University, specializing in the impact of technology on communication and relationships. My research primarily focuses on the fields of Computer-Mediated Communication (CMC) and Human-Computer Interaction (HCI).

Through my work, I explore how the ever-evolving digital landscape shapes our social interactions and self-expression online. Using a mixed-methods approach, I investigate topics such as online privacy management, self-presentation strategies, and the psychological effects of social media and technology use. I am particularly interested in how users navigate identities and privacy across different platforms, including the management of multiple accounts, ephemeral posting behaviors, and the use of faceless selfies.

Additionally, I am fascinated by the role of AI in shaping human behaviors and communication patterns. My research delves into AI-based moderation techniques and privacy management strategies in the context of human-AI interaction.

I am proud to be affiliated with the TINAS Lab and the Community Data Science Collective (CDSC), where I collaborate with brilliant minds to push the boundaries of our understanding of technology and society.

When I'm not doing research, you can find me traveling, exploring new places, trying out new food and immersing myself in different cultures.

If you have any questions about my work or would like to collaborate, please feel free to reach out at chiu101@purdue.edu. I'm always eager to connect with fellow researchers and explore new ideas.
